The tempo of modern civilization has been much quickened in the last twenty years。 While witnessing the dramatic changes in the better-off society, people begin to reconsider the question of "survival"。 "Survival" in the old sense does not bother us anymore。 Instead, we are more concerned about how to "survive" in the human world full of petition。
Competition always carries abreast challenges and opportunities to everyone involved。 It might appear in an entrance exam, in a regular class, or in a small public speech。 Those who fail to detect its real nature-whether an opportunity or a challenge a petition really is- will lose something more or less conducive to our growth。 Of course, if we take the petition as an opportunity, we will favor it intentionally because they can help us outstand from the average; they will make us bee the focus of public attention; they will grant us more chances and rights to succeed。 As a matter of fact, opportunities are supposed to be more perceptible and weling than challenges。 The truth is, however, we will lose more opportunities when we choose to take the "opportunity" fork at the crossroads。 The other fork, ignored by us and defined as "fearful challenges", offers much more chances for the walker in petition。
We have such an inclination in life to overestimate ourselves and hold a thoughtless attitude towards the negative outlook of things。
We believe in the old saying, "Opportunity knocks but just once," so we always wele it and devote all our spirit and efforts to it。 The most devout believer of this saying are the graduates。 Why? There are quite a number of them who pay full attention to positions in big cities and are willing to flood into developed areas under any circumstances, even though there will be too much uncertainty for their choices。 Innumerable cases go straight to the same miserable end: God seems to refuse to help too many of His worshipers。
In conclusion, to define the quuality of petition seems to be far from valuable sense, for no matter what a petition is, an opportunity or a challenge, it will create nutritious elements for our growth。
So take a positive look at everything around。 Keep our face to the sunshine, and we will not see the shadows。
How well are we in tune with the rhythm of life? In our busy day to day existence, we don’t often stop to ask ourselves this question. At least I don’t. And it wasn’t until I joined a competitive sporting event that I learned a most important lesson – we must place our mind in harmony with the natural order of things to be successful.
Let me tell you what happened.
I decided to take part in an International Marathon in my hometown last year. Being an ambitious person, I hoped to finish it within 5 hours, accompanied by my friend with whom I had trained.
The big day finally arrived. "Ready...set...bang" And we were off.
At first, we kept a rapid pace and ran nonstop. At this pace, we finished the first 20 kilometers in 2 hours and I thought running a marathon was a piece of cake. Then my running mate began to slow down. I urged him to keep running at the same pace but he said no, he wanted to conserve his energy. I felt I had partnered with the wrong person, therefore, I sprinted on and left him behind in the dust.
A few kilometers later, I began to understand his strategy as my pace slowed to a jog then a walk. After that I was incapable of moving another step. I was humiliated as more and more people ran passed me. More than once I thought "Maybe I should quit." I started to doubt my ability to finish this race.
At this moment, my running mate caught up with me and slapped me on the back. “Follow me,” he shouted. He had balanced his marathon pace and was encouraged me to do the same. For the rest of this grueling contest, we walked, jogged, ran a few miles, and walked again. Slowly, painfully but hopefully this time, we established the most suitable pace within the natural flow of our physical capabilities.
Eventually we accomplished our first Marathon of 42 kilometers in 4 and half hours. I asked myself, what did this marathon mean to me? My Marathon experience became an influential metaphor for my life about how we must learn to pace ourselves in everything, by being in tune with the rhythm of life.
Like the tide that ebbs and flows, we must listen to advice but make our own decisions. Like the show at dawn and dusk, we must learn to balance pride and modesty. And from the way the wind can both shout and whisper, we must learn when to be strong and when to be gentle, for everything moves in its own rhythm and its own yin and yang elements. It is the interaction of these complementary extremes that produces harmony, as Laozi said, extremes meet. Since the marathon, this notion of two opposite forces working together has been my running partner, so to speak. Yin and yang exist everywhere, constantly interacting, and never existing in an absolute condition.
Ladies and Gentlemen, life is like running a marathon, let us discover, define and develop a natural rhythm of life, in order to achieve both harmony and success.
Thank you for listening.
Time flies. In a twinkling of an eye, four years later, I am no longer the kid playing hide and seek, nor the coquettish little girl lying in her mothers arms. On this day, I bid farewell to my alma mater for four years and walked into the gate of No.3 middle school with my perfect vision for the future.
Coming to the new school, my first feeling is fresh. The campus is so clean and tidy, with wide playground and bright classroom; there are amiable teachers and friendly students, which makes me believe that I am not in the wrong place. I like the environment there. There are plants and trees for company. There are classmates who care for each other. There are teachers who teach me carefully. Such a beautiful school, such a brand-new classroom, such a kind family, really let me surging new tide.
When you come to a new school, you should have a new look. In a year there, I will make up for my own shortcomings. Its not enough to attend all kinds of lectures, but also to pay attention to the teachers speeches I understand that it will be very difficult to do this. As long as you work hard, persevere and never shrink back, you will succeed.
I understand that everyones mind is not the same, the new semester everyone has their own plan, lets join hands to advance towards the goal of self!
